D’Marcicus Childress served in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1992, where he learned many fundamental skills essential to operating a successful heating and air company. He trained as an air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic, where he first realized his love for HVAC. During this time, he realized that his calling was to provide good, honest service to people in need.

After receiving the Good Conduct Medal Award and an Honorable Discharge, “D” went to work for Lennox. He held various positions within the company, each more prestigious than the last.

He supplemented his training by attending Amberton University, where he received his Bachelor of Business and Masters of Business Administration. He felt a formal education was important because it taught him how to solve problems and remain patient when working on complicated issues.

In 2010, “D” left Lennox to begin his own company, Five Star Heating & A/C. His goal was to ensure each of his customers has a good “pilot” taking care of their HVAC unit… and over the past 14 years, he has been putting homeowners at ease with his relaxing process.

Many of our competitors claim to offer customer service, but few take it as seriously as Five Star Heating & A/C. “D” literally named his company after the promise he makes to his customers. Each and every day, he puts his reputation on the line, and this commitment to service has resulted in many pleased customers.

Besides providing top-quality HVAC service to his community, his love for heating and air conditioning does not stop with his company. “D” is an HVAC professor at Collin College, teaching air conditioning and heating courses. He enjoys investing his time and energy into helping other new technicians learn how to troubleshoot a unit without causing damage to a customer’s house or themselves.

“D” has been married to his lovely wife, a former elementary school teacher, for over 24 years. Together, they own and operate a real estate brokerage company in Wylie, TX. The two also love to exercise, travel and spend time with family. “D” believes it is necessary to stay fit so that he can be a healthy HVAC technician.
